REIMAGINING WELLNESS with TRADITION
MEET CORINNA SEDLACK: founder of cannaspa
For Corinna Sedlack, wellness isn't a trend, it's a return to what has always existed.
At 34 years old, the founder of CANNASPA has built a brand that reflects the many layers of her identity: Haitian, Czech, Irish, and German; entrepreneur and mother; traditionalist and innovator. Raised by her grandmother and mother on Long Island, NY in a household with humble beginnings, she learned early on the value of resilience, resourcefulness, and creating something meaningful from what you have.
"I've always been a traditional-meets-contemporary girl," she says. "I believe ancient healing practices still have so much to teach us."
After graduating from Manhattan College in 2014 with a double major in Marketing and Global Business, Corinna quickly entered a new chapter of life. She learned she was pregnant shortly after graduation and welcomed her first son in February 2015. Motherhood reshaped her priorities and perspective. After spending years living in the Bronx and Yonkers while raising her family, she now proudly calls Harlem home.
It was during her second pregnancy in 2023 that the idea for CANNASPA truly began to take shape. Like many women, she found herself craving a healthier outlet, something rooted in actual restoration rather than escapism. Around the same time, she became immersed in spa culture and natural therapies, discovering the Russian and Turkish bathhouse experience and its use of platza, a traditional healing technique that utilizes bundles of oak leaves to release tension, calm the body, and promote wellness.
The experience sparked something in her. What if she could create a product that honored ancient healing traditions while embracing modern plant-based wellness? The answer became CANNASPA.
Described by Corinna as a "soothillating" experience (a term she coined by combining soothing and scintillating) CANNASPA blends traditional wellness practices with full-spectrum CBD to create products designed to improve both physical and mental well-being. Through a proprietary infusion process using oak leaves, CBD, peppermint, and olive oils, she has developed a wellness experience that supports mood regulation, relaxation, and holistic self-care. At its core, CANNASPA is about giving people permission to indulge in wellness unapologetically.
This philosophy inspired the brand's newest concept: Wellness Slut. For Corinna, the phrase is playful, bold, and deeply intentional.
"Being taken care of and taking care of yourself is a turn on, even in the purest form of wellness," she says.
The message is simple: Love a Wellness Slut. Embrace a Wellness Slut. Be free to be a Wellness Slut. It's an invitation to prioritize yourself without guilt and to view self-care not as an occasional luxury, but as a lifestyle.
That message has already resonated with communities rooted in wellness and healing. In a full-circle moment, CANNASPA made its first retail debut on the rooftop of the historic Russian and Turkish Baths after Corinna pitched her concept for the brand's signature "What A Platz" drops. Today, CANNASPA products can also be found at select retailers at the Bellport Apothecary and Hampton Premium Green on Long Island as well as Pipe NJ in Brick, NJ with the brand continuing to expand its reach through its online store and signature merchandise. As a mother of two sons and founder of a growing wellness brand, Corinna is building more than products, she's creating a movement that honors ancient wisdom, celebrates modern self-care, and encourages people to pursue wellness in ways that feel both restorative and exciting.
