Chelsea Higgs Wise is a dedicated social worker, community organizer, and advocate for racial equity and social justice. Raised in Chesterfield, Virginia, she pursued her education at Longwood University, earning a degree in social work, followed by a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. With over a decade of experience in the mental health sector, Chelsea has been instrumental in addressing systemic inequalities and promoting inclusive communication strategies.

In 2019, Chelsea co-founded Marijuana Justice, a nonprofit organization committed to educating the public on the history of cannabis criminalization and its disproportionate impact on Black communities. As Executive Director, she has been a pivotal force in advocating for the decriminalization and equitable legalization of marijuana in Virginia, emphasizing the need for reparative justice and community reinvestment.

Beyond her work with Marijuana Justice, Chelsea is a sought-after speaker and facilitator, engaging with statewide officials and community groups on issues of race, gender, and healthcare. Her efforts have been recognized in various forums, including a feature in Style.

2. LaUREN O’BRIEN

Lauren O’Brien, celebrated winner of Netflix’s Drink Masters, is a dynamic force in the beverage industry and a proud Afro-Boricua from the Bronx. Known for her creative approach to mixology, Lauren is a shareholder of Siponey Spritz Co., a brand that emphasizes natural ingredients and unique flavors. Siponey’s offerings, like the “Pollinator” and “Tropics” spritzes, reflect her commitment to high-quality, flavor-forward cocktails that can be enjoyed with or without alcohol. Her work is a testament to the power of sustainable, innovative drinks that bring people together.

As a Go FAR ambassador, Lauren advocates for increased diversity and representation in hospitality, using her platform to spotlight and support initiatives aimed at inclusivity. Her skills as a mixologist have led her to high-profile partnerships and events, including crafting cocktails for the F1 Arcade in Washington, D.C., where she collaborated with local talent to bring a unique drink experience to this 17,300-square-foot arcade and bar.

Lauren’s collaborations extend to brands like Hotel Tango Distillery, where she developed the “Alpine NightCap,” a cocktail that blends the warming flavors of chamomile and lavender with an espresso martini twist. She is a sought-after figure for pop-up events and specialty menus, often showcasing her Afro-Caribbean heritage in her recipes.
